Welcome to Barrs Court Probus Club

We are a social club for retired or semi-retired men, offering fortnightly meetings, plus leisure activities, holidays, lunches, day trips, for both our members and the ladies in our sister group. Other activities include bowling and occasional theatre trips.

The Club particularly welcome suggestions from members for new ideas and, best of all, the willing participation of members to take an active part in the running of the Club.

Join us for engaging speakers, fun activities, and a welcoming community of like-minded men. Take a look at our current programme of events on the next page!

How to contact us and join in

Just come along to one of our meetings and see what we get up to. You will be most welcome and under no obligation to join.

We normally meet on the second and fourth Wednesdays of every month from 10:00 to 12:00. We start with a short meeting to make any announcements and then we enjoy half an hour of socialising over a coffee. Finally, for the second hour we enjoy a presentation. This could be on a whole range of subjects. Take a look at our current programme.

Our meeting place is the Longwell Green Community Centre, Shellards Road, Longwell Green, Bristol, BS30 9DU.

Four times a year we sit down together for a luncheon. On these occasions we do not have a meeting.

We look forward to meeting you.

DAY TRIPS

Plans for these are still being made but we already have a day in Swanage on April 24th (fully booked) and a cruise from central Bristol to Hanham to enjoy a cream tea. This is on 16th July.

The social committee of the club is working on other ideas. Watch this space or come and join us to be amongst the first to hear about them.

Speakers may be unavailable on the day, so we have to say that all talks are subject to change, but any changes will still be good. The holidays and day trips are fixed but may be fully booked. Just ask. One other day trip will almost certainly be arranged for later this year. Join us to find out all about it. There may also be theatre trips including a proposed visit to the Royal Albert Hall for a night of highlights from musicals..
